Abstract | Ha Tien 1 Cement Joint Stock Company is executing two big projects. They are Binh Phuoc Cement Plant Project and Southern Cement Grinding and Distribution Terminal Project. The company judges that these investments play a very important role for strategic development. For that reason, Ha tien 1 has set up a separate unit, which is called The Project Management Unit (PMU), to concentrate on managing two projects. The report will firstly focus on analyzing impacts of internal and external factors on the Project Finance and Accounting Department, one of departments of the PMU. Based on the results, SWOT analysis is done. Then strategies are proposed to overcome weakness as well as take full advantages from strengths of the department. Then the case research will analyze reasons of project cost overruns, one of problems that two projects are confronting with. From such problem analysis, solutions are presented. The purposes of these solutions are to minimize amount of cost escalation of current projects and to prevent the problem from happening again in the future. |
