AbstractEach country as it grows is marked by demographic rise and development measured by the level of infrastructure development. This will guaranty the citizenry the needed socio-economic well-being by the provision of amenities by the government. The demographic growth calls for settlement of people and habitations, business growth and industries thus giving rise to high demand for infrastructure. The infrastructure development is a measure of socio-economic wellbeing of the citizenry. It, therefore, becomes a challenge and imperative for the country’s government to provide necessary enabling environment for infrastructure development such as roads, transportation system, housing, power, social amenities and security for the citizenry Building Industry occupies a unique position in the Construction Industry as new houses are built and old ones renovated or refurbished. Building renovation becomes imperative due to certain factors prevalent in and around the environment. The entire process is made possible by project management. Normally, buildings are usually renovated between 20 – 50 years depending on the strength of the components. The environment impacts on houses range from Forces majeure (natural disasters like flood, cyclone, hurricane, typhoon and fire) and men created, such as Conflicts, Reconstruction, Renovation or Remodeling for socio economic purpose, market force, commercial or renewed lease of life – more space, sporting and face lift. Government policy can engender disaster through infrastructure development.
