AbstractThis study presents a decision making process to choose appropriate radio propagation model for computing the inter-system interference levels between LTE (Long Term Evolution) and other radio networks when sharing a same frequency band. The study first defines the usage scenarios with related key propagation characteristics for each usage scenario between LTE base station and other radio systems. Review and analysis of radio propagation models from various literatures are also studied and then it applies the knowledge of propagation models together with the characteristics of each scenario. As one particular model cannot adequate all situations, it described various radio propagation models and analyzed their performances versus different network deployment cases. Furthermore, the study has also conducted the selection of models with minimum requirements and simulation of radio propagation models as well as exclusive comparisons between propagation models. In conclusion, the most suitable model is selected for different cases and the results recommend for being the suitable propagation model for each deployment cases.
