Abstract | This research study aims to examine the factors influencing international student in selecting a host country for higher education. Push-pull model has been used to examine the relationship between country based pull factors and student study abroad decision. This study also investigated the influence of pull factors on student satisfaction over study abroad decision. This study have been carried out in Thai context by collecting data from international students from more than 10 nationalities enrolled in five Thai universities located in Bangkok area that host large number of international student. Quantitative research methods have been used in which data has been collected using online questionnaire through email and social media by referral. The results of regression test suggest that country based pull factor have significant relationship with international student decision to study abroad. Three pull factors showed significant relationship with student decision making include knowledge and awareness of host country, cost issue and environment of host country. Results also showed that pull factors can influence on student satisfaction over study abroad decision. Three pull factors that influence student satisfaction include social links, cost issue and knowledge and awareness of host country. This study has implications for academicians and professionals. |
