Abstract | Construction industry in India is one of the largest contributors to national economy over the last couple decades since independence. It is also the biggest contributor in creating employment, next only to agriculture. The contractors of small size are facing lot of problems in developing the company to medium size. Considering that, this study has been carried out to identify the strategy to be followed for the expansion of small to medium construction company. The challenges, obstacles and success factors is identified through literature survey as the first step of this study. A conceptual framework was developed. Semi structured interview survey was carried out to identify the strategy of a construction company in India. The conceptual framework was used as the road map for interview survey. The challenges faced by the company are identified. The success factors for their business expansion are also identified. From these the strategy adopted by the company while expansion from small to medium is proposed. |
