AbstractThe main idea of this thesis is improving Wi-Fi-based indoor localisation using Received Signal Strength Indication (RSSI) and performing pedestrian dead reckoning using low-cost IMU with complementary filtering technique. Indoor localisation systems are required for detection and tracking of items in GPS denied environment. In this thesis, Optimal Smooth-ness Index algorithm for RSSI is applied to analysis the signal and unbiased equations for lognormal shadowing effect. Performing bit error rate of IEEE 802.11 that are required to per-form RSSI based localisation. This paper seeks to improve RSSI based indoor localization in both interference scenario and non-interference scenario. After tested over 106 positions, the algorithm in this thesis improved Wi-Fi based indoor localisation and will perform better in MU-MIMO OFDM of Wireless Access Point.
