AbstractWireless sensor networks play a prominent role in enabling an application that connects physical world to virtual world and so it is widely chosen for research. When compared to wired networks wireless networks are more liable to attacks. However, the simplicity in hardware of these devices causes defense mechanisms designed for networks in feasible.A ad-hoc wireless network part of thesensornetwork,whereamulti-hoproutingalgorithmissupportedbyeachsensor(severalnodes forwarddatatothedestinationisonthebasisofconnectivityofnetworkandtheroutingalgorithm in use). One of the attacks occurs in the mobile ad-hoc wireless network (MANET) is a Black hole attack is a denial of service attack is extremely hard to identify and protect. The attack happens, when an intruderoccursandblockthedatapackets(service)byreprogrammingroutingfunctionalityofthe network, result as opposed to sending them towards the destination. To isolate the attack several detection and defense mechanisms introduced that carry on resisting blackhole attack. In this, the studyofDYMO(whichissuccessorofAODV)andOLSRprotocolusingad-hocwirelessnetwork behaviour in the scenario of black hole activity and its mitigation through Intrusion Detection System (IDS).”For simulation considered network simulator NS2.35 under Ubuntu 14.04.”
