AbstractIn this research, a review of coal demand in Viet Nam and coal supply chain of PetroVietnam was firstly presented. The research then aimed at the development of a mathematical model to help find the optimum locations of coal ports in Vietnam so as to satisfy demands from customers with minimum total cost which consists of the cost to open and operate ports, transportation cost and procurement cost. A computer program developed based on Lingo is then employed to help find the optimal solution for the investigated location problem.
