AbstractAs a result of international integration, the competitiveness of companies operating in the territory of Vietnam has become increasingly fierce and more difficult. The company has to compete not only with domestic companies but also with foreign ones, in the areas of financial resources, technology and market requirements. To compete successfully, the investment in training and human resources development is indispensable. Recognizing the importance of this investment, many companies in Vietnam have focused on building a training and human resource development strategy. However, the implementation method has been inadequate due to many factors. One of the most basic reasons is that many companies have not implemented all the methods, at least not systematically. Other reasons include a lack of a long-term vision for various activities; a lack of planning; a lack of synchronization between the different activities, etc. Within the scope of this research, the author referred to the problems and inadequacies, and gave discussions to contribute to the causes and appropriate solutions. This research was applied in actual establishment of essential training and human resource development strategy in Petro Vietnam Power Corporation (PV Power), a leading company of Vietnam in the field of manufacturing and trading of electricity.
