Transitioning to the post-2015 development agenda; the journey of a children’s csr initiative

AbstractThis paper represents the work conducted on behalf of the company. It reviews the established Children’s CSR Initiative of a large multinational hotel chain and its alignment to the United Nations Millennium Development Goal to reduce child mortality. With the new Post-2015 Development Agenda coming into effect by 2015 the paper develops a CSR strategy to support this new agenda. The paper first reviews the initiative from original research to inception and then establishes the benefits and impacts made by the initiative through the use of both quantitative and qualitative data gathered from surveys conducted with over 90 hotels in the Asia Pacific region for the 2013 period. The London Benchmarking Group framework for measuring community investment was used as a basis for the surveys. The paper then reviews the commonalities between both the UN MDG and the Post-2015 Development Agenda to enable the initiative a smooth transition. Through the results of the surveys the paper is able to confirm that the initiative is very philanthropic based which was important to make the correct recommendations. The paper then explores and discusses what the company needs to do in order to enhance its impact in the community and contribute more to sustainable development through its Children’s CSR Initiative.
