AbstractTime-cost tradeoff analysis has been developed to support CPM for a long time. There have been many approaches proposed for the time-cost tradeoff analysis but those are not successfully accepted in the construction industry yet. The main objective of this study is to propose a new approach for time-cost tradeoff analysis. The new approach is based on Integer Programming (IP), which is a powerful tool for obtaining optimum results. Nine examples of time-cost tradeoff problem from various sources with different approaches used were taken and solved again by the new approach, named (-1 )-0-1 IP Approach. All results produced by the (-1 )-0-1 IP Approach were proved to be the same or better than results of those original approaches. This study also developed a computer program based on the (-1 )-0-1 IP Approach to facilitate its use. This study can be applied in construction resource selection before making a construction plan, which includes not only information on normal costs and normal durations but also crash costs and crash durations .
