Abstract | The project planning and scheduling plays a vital role in the success of a construction project. However, construction people normally do scheduling based on past experience without thoroughly considering all potential options. The objective of this study is to formulate the practically useful scheduling model of repetitive projects to find the optimal crew formation using multi-objective dynamic programming. In order to achieve this goal, the model is formulated under the following attributes: account for the realities of repetitive project, incorporate multiple optimization criteria, treat the generalized set of precedence relation, and handle the complex network diagram that can be decomposed into many non-overlapping loops. MODP'99 program is also developed, based on model formulation, for the purpose of demonstrating the practical application of this model as a computer-based tool. Visual Basic for Application (VBA) on Microsoft Excel environment was used to develop this program. A case study DonMueng Tollway Project is analyzed to illustrate the capability of the proposed model. |
