| Abstract | The Bangkok Mass Transit Authority of Thailand (BMT A) which is state enterprise has encountered loss and lack of efficiency problem. In general, the cause of this problem is the organization that does not have any systematic procedures to keep track of the bus operation and management. The existing paper-based system of this organization is currently used by BMT A to keep track all the inventory and operating data. However the problem of the paper-based system results the difficulties in updating and searching for data. This study focuses on the analysis of the existing bus operation system, system design and an implementation of database management system for the Bangkok Mass Transit Authority of Thailand (BMTA). The purpose of this study is to develop the database management program to increase potential of management and performance evaluation for BMT A. The database management system comprises of three systems which are financial system, management system, and indicator system related to the various departments of BMTA zone 4. Conceptual databases are designed by using the normalization technique and the data classification theory. The developed program is validated and verified by using the actual collected data of BMTA zone 4 between 1999- 2000. |
