AbstractThe Search Engine for XML Documents is a search engine tool that is used to locate the XML documents available in the World Wide Web. It allows users to enter the search terms to search for the XML documents available in Internet. A spider is used to gather the HTML documents and XML documents from the web server and extract links to other documents, which will be gathered by the spider later. The spider passes only XML documents to the parser. The parser is used to parse the metadata part or RDF of an XML documents for te1ms or if a document does not have the metadata part, it will parse the content part of an XML document for terms instead. All information got from an XML document is stored in a table in database to provide search capability to the Internet users. The users on client side can enter the search terms via the browser and they will be sent to the server. The Search Engine for XML Documents returns an XML document that contains all URLs of relevant documents. The Java programming language, Java Servlet and XML technologies are used for implementation of the Search Engine for XML Documents.
