AbstractIn recent years, non-timber forest products (NTFPs) have attracted considerable global interest. This is due to the increasing recognition that can provide imp01tant community needs for improve rural livelihood; contribute to household food security and nutrition; help to generate additional employment and income; offer oppo1tunities for processing enterprises; contribute to foreign exchange earning; and supp01t biodiversity conservation and other environmental objectives. This research study identified the imp01tant factors related to the developments ofNTFP based enterprises in the Lao PDR. However it still considered, because of, there are a few small-scale factories in the country for finishing products; there is little capacity for processing non-timber forest products due to domestic processing of the country's NTFPs exists only to a limited extent. Most non-timber forest products leave the country (exp01ted) in a relatively as raw material or semi-finished products. However, much more needs to be done at policy level to promote the small-scale enterprises; there are needed to develop entrepreneurs and the potential enterprises could be developed. The result of the research shows that, over all it is seen that the entrepreneurs, i.e., producers face the difficult problems, disadvantaged in the trading process through a lack of marketing and technology information's. Therefore, suggestions are made in order to promote or improve NTFP based enterprises.
