Abstract | Micro and Small and Medium Enterprises play very important role in the economic development, particularly poverty alleviation and job creation. Developing countries boosted SME development through the promotion and assistance programs of government and donors. SMEs in developing countries are facing problems of accessing to credits, low management and technological knowledge and skills to improve their product and service quality to increase the competitiveness advantages etc. The management training to SMEs is one of the assistance programs to assist small and medium enterprises improve business performance and organizations, and management knowledge and skills, in addition to help enterprises know how to start up and how to do the business. The objectives of this research is to study the impact of management training on SME development, which providing by donors. Small Enterprise Development Project (SEDP) of GTZ was one of assistance programs of donor providing the management training to Lao SMEs. The clients of SEDP have been chosen for conducting survey. The study evolves with the assessment of management training to SMEs and the SMEs's need to take courses in the future to improve their business performance and organizations. This study also includes the recommendations to overcome business problems of SMEs by the assistance programs of government and international organizations. |
