AbstractTea industry of Bangladesh is under severe problem, to fulfill the demand of the increasing domestic consumption and to retain world export share. Increase of production and improvement of quality with simultaneous reduction of cost can only resolve the problems. Effective supply chain management can contribute to achieve the goal. Today's market is competitive one. Rapid change in technology makes it more difficult to retain the competitive advantage. Those who are efficient in cost reduction and quality conscious and aware of teclmological innovation can survive in this competitive market. Supply Chain Management can contribute effectively to reduce cost and enhance quality. The objective of the study is to understand the value chain in the tea industry and to examine how it is working. To identify the value creating activities and how effectively they are handled under different management, a comparison is conducted among five companies. At the end of the study some recommendations are given which would be helpful to manage the supply chine in tea industry.
