Abstract | International and local NGOs have played an important role in the development of Cambodia since the early 1980s. NGOs have contributed significantly to the development of Cambodia in various aspects such as, reduction of the poverty, education, infrastructure development, project design skills, proposal design skills, HIV or AIDS and environment 'protection. To accomplish their objectives, the international NGOs and local NGOs emphasize on skills development, skills training and human resources. The success of NGOs' activities in Cambodia cannot ignore the government support and donors or international supporters. International NGOs and Cambodian NGOs perspectives are almost the same related to skills development and skills need. Most NGOs work successfully, but some fail due to the lack of full international support and cooperation from their partners. Better future performance is important for NGOs to implement their projects, develop their staff skills and manage the programs of organization. The survey on International NGOs and Cambodian NGOs have had shown that majority of NGOs considered in project design skills, information or communication technology, community consultation skills, strategy planing skills and proposal design skills is most important related to other sector. These activities are related to the reductions of poverty and environment protection, restore infrastructure, agriculture development and reduce the impact of vital diseases from HIV or AIDS. |
