| Abstract | Today's business arena, competition in the market is volatile. Everyone in business is competing with both local and global players. Tomorrow's winner will be those companies who are quick in delivery, whose product cost is low and product quality is the best. Only effective supply chain can help in these regards. If a company is to be competitive in today's market place, supply chain excellence is required practice. Textile-Apparel business in Bangladesh is export based and 76% foreign income of the country depends upon garment export. Ontime delivery, quality and cost are important issues in this sector. Effective Supply chain management can help in these regards. Because by managing the supply chain any company can reduce the inventories, improve the quality and improve delivery system. The objective of this study is to understand the supply chain management in the TextileApparel industry and the role of information technology in this system. In order to have a clear idea on supply chain management in textile industry, an exploratory case study on Beximco Textile Division was conducted. At the end of the study some recommendations are given which might be helpful for Beximco Textile Division and also other textile and garments companies to manage their supply chain in Bangladesh. |
