AbstractRapidly increasing CNC machine user demands on the portability, extendibility, scalability, exchangeability and interoperability of the CNC controller, which is an origin of the Open Architecture Concept (OAC). There are many CNC controller manufacturers that respond to this demand. They propose the modern CNC controller system based on this concept. Unfortunately, the degree of openness of most modern CNC controller is. not completely open. It still has some proprietary hardware components. Nevertheless, this is a great sign that the CNC controller manufacturer acknowledges the Open Architecture Concept. To be completely open by means of the Open Architecture Concept, the CNC controller manufacturer must renovate their CNC controller system to be the software-based CNC controller system. With the software-based CNC controller, the machine is independent from any proprietary hardware components. The main objective of this study is to develop and integrate the OpenCNC software based on an alternative OAC methodology for ARD-TB400, three-axis open architecture based milling prototype machine. This study also has the experiment of the SERVO control of ARD-TB400 by using OpenCNC.
