AbstractForest plantation is new in the Lao PDR. In 1996, Government of Lao PDR (GOL) introduced a new forest policy to promote forest plantation by allocating degraded forest land to household as well as private sectors for planting trees and exempting them from land tax. Eucalyptus Camaldulensis is one of main species that introduced. And local people's participation is very important in eucalyptus plantation. This study is conducted with the objective of assessing the perception, attitude and practices of local people for eucalyptus plantation and evaluation of its economic aspects. It is based on the primary data with some references to secondary data and information. Findings of the study shown that, people high interested in eucalyptus plantation, which can be known that from the results of interviewed, 85% of respondent need for eucalyptus plantation establishment. They thought that eucalyptus plantation will be able give them income and it will able also supplies wood and fuewood to them in the future. However there is some people (15%) no need for eucalyptus plantation, because they have no land and fund. The results of economic analysis the Eucalyptus Camaldulensis plantation for year 7 was the most profitable when compared to other years. At the year 7 the Net Present Value is positive (Kip 652,111), Benefit-Cost Ration is greater than 1 (1.39) and the Internal Rate of Return is 19 .90 percent. The Internal Rate of Return 19 .90 percent indicates that farmer's investing money in Eucalyptus Camaldulensis plantation establishment is better than depositing money in a savings account which gives an interest of 12% per annum.
