Abstract | Given its advantageous location, potentials and prospects, Danang City plays a more and more critical role in the socio-economic development of the Central Region. To fulfil its role, Danang City has coped with many challenges, of which human resource development is one of the most difficult issues under many discussions. This report try to identify the mismatches between skilled labor demand and supply in Danang City based on the findings of a survey of 31 companies and Danang University. This would provide a sound basis for setting up a proper teaching curriculum to better suit the actual requirements of the business community and the regional development. In this aspect, the survey findings highlight the challenges faced to Danang University in reducing the differences/ gap between skilled labor demand and supply so that it can finish its role as the supplier of skilled human resources supporting the drive for development of this region in the future. At the end, the report draws some recommendations for a broader range of human resources development issues. Those issues consist of investment in education, improving and upgrading education and training quality, as well as Danang University's necessary preparation for responding to the increasing demand for skilled labor in terms of quantity and quality of skilled laborer, etc. |
