AbstractNowadays the new economics of the Internet is making the auctions popular in consumers, small business, or business-to-business transactions. However there is an important problem of an electronic auction, its untrustworthiness, which is impeding its adoption. Thus, a Trust Model for Electronic Auctions which represents relationships of factor hierarchies affecting trust, buyer trust, seller trust, trust evaluation, and outcomes of the tlust was proposed to address this problem. To prove the proposed model, one hundred and five respondents in the buyer case and ninety five respondents in the seller case were samples of a research survey. At first, one-way ANOV A statistic was utilized to compare the opinions about factors affecting trust between each group of a buyer and a seller based on the proposed model. Then a confirmatory factor analysis was performed to test that all sub-factors were included in relevant factor hierarchies. The convergent validity and item reliability assessment of each factor hierarchy was performed. In addition, the maximum likelihood method of parameter estimation was employed in order to measure the goodness of model fit. Finally, the proved model, the refined Trust Model for Electronic Auctions, was implemented in order to apply the model in a realistic situation.
