Abstract | This thesis study presents an effective way to solve the production-planning problem of a small furniture factory in Thailand. The Linear and Goal Programming models are formulated subject to the plant attribute and management policy. The procedures for this problem are decomposed into two steps. Firstly, the work started with the procedure of Linear Programming model (LP). Secondly, in the case that no feasible solution was found using LP model, Goal Programming model (GP) was applied to solve the problem with the objectives selected. These procedures are implemented using the Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, with the optimization software, Lingo 5. Finally, sensitivity analysis was performed with the variation of goal priority and input parameter and some recommendations were proposed for the management to make production planning more efficient and realistic. |
