AbstractIn the real-world inventory system, there are various items have a utility that is constant over time, after which it drops appreciably. Spare parts, perishable items, style goods, special seasonal items are such example. This study deals with perishable items with fixed lifetime. . . In this thesis, the analysis of a perishable inventory system with fixed lifetime of items shows that conventional method via Markov process is neither applicable nor easily extendable; hence appropriate forms of mathematical expression and corrected results of analytical model are presented. Therefore, a simulation model was developed to obtain optimum levels of decision variables. Using the renewal nature of the system, a regenerative approach was applied to have an efficient simulation system. The best policy of inventory system can be defined after performing full experiment of search space. Another way to find best policy of inventory system is simulation optimization integration ·using Simulated Annealing algorithm. Simulated Annealing algorithm is integrated with simulation model, has advantages that the solution may not trap with local optimum and the number of simulation run is reduced significantly in comparing with performing full experiment. The results are analyzed for different situations, including instantaneous replenislunent, deterministic and stochastic lead-times.
