AbstractIn this study, a system that integrates data collected from physical sensors and crowdsourcing to provide disaster warning mechanism such as flood and road accident has been proposed. The measurements obtained from Internet of Things (IoT) such as physical sensors along with the visual observations carried out by the individuals can help in portraying an accurate picture of the incidents. In process of system implementation, physical sensors collect information from rain watch and river watch for flood warning. It also collects information regarding number of injured people and death tolls from road accidents. The multi-platform-based application (web-based, desktop, and mobile) is effective in accepting the information from crowdsourcing after the occurrence of disasters. It processes location based data from the crowd and implements data fusion technique to integrate flood related information. The study also proposes another application that monitors the road accidents and provides notification to the users. The notification is delivered when an accident occurs near their surroundings within a radius of 10 km. It also verifies the records from the crowd and sends email notification to concerned authorities through user friendly reporting and visualization tools. The system development comprises of back end and front end application. The back end is used for storing data into database using relational database Microsoft SQL Server. The front end is used for user interface and dashboard which uses Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Therefore, the proposed system can be used for any type of disaster where information can be collected through sensors and crowdsourcing
