Abstract | During recent years, externally prestressed segmental structure has been used widely in Thailand for many mass transit projects such as the Second Stage Expressway, Bangna-Bangpakong Project, because of its great advantages of simplicity, cost-effectiveness and the construction time saving. In this study, each type of the interfaces, based on the contact-impact theory, used in modeling the externally prestressed segmental structure is demonstrated and compared to the previous study. A new interface element is developed to consider contact in oblique direction. The segmental deck is modeled by the 9-node geometrically nonlinear shell element while the externally prestressing cable is 3-node nonlinear cable element. Finally the externally prestressed structure is simplified and the important behaviors of this type of structure are demonstrated. |
