AbstractIn this study, a general supply chain is constructed and analyzed. The model is composed of three basic stages: procurement, production and distribution stage. A multilocation, multi-commodity and multi-period linear programming model is formulated. Solutions for the model are obtained by utilizing commercial optimization software named LINGO with the interacting of EXCEL spreadsheet and Visual Basic for application (VBA). The important factors in the model, namely number of vendors, number of facilities, number of customers, number of commodities and number of periods, are also tested for their effects on problem sizes as well as computation efficiencies. In addition, Dantzig-Wolfe decomposition technique is implemented in C programming language. The model is applied in a case study of a Disc-drive Company in Thailand. A comparison of the proposed integrated model and the existing sequential model is conducted. The result indicates that the integrated model provides lower cost than that of the sequential model.
