Abstract | This study is to develop a system capable of generating design using a computerized computational framework. An air-cooled heat exchanger design has been taken as the design problem in order to demonstrate the performance of the system developed. There are design requirements, design rules and algorithms, and the design output consist of the intelligent design system of2-D and 3-D models. The users just input thirteen independent parameters as the design requirements edited with Microsoft Excel 2000 to produce design data. The design rules and algorithms in AutoLISP read the data and then executes drafting activities, design in AutoCAD 2000 directly. The final output of this system is 2-D drawing of the tube bundle or 3-D drawing of the air cooler. When designing a tube bundle by hand, it takes about four days for one person. But by this intelligent system, it takes only 15 minutes. |
