AbstractFive-axis milling is used to machine sculpture surface models. The most important problem of machining with five-axis is to transfer the part coordinate system to the machine coordinate system. This done by means of a post-processor. The Post-processor is implemented for the HERMLE UWF 902H Vertical five-axis milling machine and using Microsoft Visual C++ V6.0. to write the program. This postprocessor contains four main algorithms 1. Transformation equation between Part and Machine Coordinate System. 2. Linearization between CL points. 3. Feedrate Adjustment. 4. Limit checking of machine axis. The input to this post-processor is the cutter location data file from Pro-Engineer software. The output is the NC file to produce a part. A measuring method to calibrate some machine parameter is developed. This research develops and Implements the above algorithms. The Algorithms are proven for a five-axis tire mold.
