Abstract | In general, the Asian countries enjoyed a high rate of economic growth until recently. Asian financial crisis, which began in Thailand in July 1997, rapidly spread to other Asian countries. The after Asian financial crises came into being against the background of continued globalization of financial and capital markets and the massive cross-border capital movement. For the reason of the increasing weight of Asia in the global economy, the Asian financial crises and the ensuing deterioration in economic conditions has had a considerable negative impact on the world economy. In Taiwan, the currency depreciating, economic growth declining, interest rates fluctuating and stock prices index decreasing in the Asian financial crisis. Although compare with other Asian countries, Taiwan has been relatively unaffected by the crises. Although Asian financial crisis impacts on Taiwan relatively light, but the crisis still affected to Taiwan economy and banking Industry. This research studied the Asian financial crises impact on Asian countries, Taiwan economy and banking industry. The research used from some Asian countries key economic and financial indicator to analyze the affected situations in the crises. Then explored the crises impact on Taiwan's economy and banking industry and tried to point out the reason why the crises impacts slightly. This research also explored the future challenge of Taiwan government and banking industry, tried to figure out the policies of the govenunent and operating strategy of the banking industry |
