AbstractSecurity market is of paramount important to the development of the economy. With the on going renovation process toward a market-oriented economy the need to establish a security market in Vietnam has become unarguable. Looking at current situation in Vietnam, it can be said that at the early stage of its development, bonds will be the main commodities in this market. However, the number of personnel having good knowledge about the bond market as a whole is quite limited and many articles on the bond markets seem scattered. The purpose of this research is to provide an overview of the Vietnamese bond market, its current development and structure. From this overview, problems and limitations of the Vietnamese bond market are analyzed. The research also present prospects and give recommendations to overcome those problems and limitations of the Vietnamese bond market. This research study is useful for anyone, who wants to have a general picture of the Vietnamese bond market. It may help to increase the number of personnel having knowledge about the bond market. Finally, although it does not discuss in details any aspects of the Vietnamese bond market, anybody who wants to study more can use it as a guideline for further study
