Abstract | The idea, that the suppliers and the professional customer are partners, is one, whose time has come. Each commercial organization marches towards its objective of customer satisfaction. It is self-evident that the quality of the offerings will be the sum total of the excellence of each player in our supply stream. In manufacturing, a common formula of product cost states that material procured from outside source aggregates nearly 50% of the cost. Clearly effective management of supply chain plays a major role in fulfilling the objective of customer satisfaction. Laos is one of the prominent countries in Indo-China region, with abundant natural resources, making it a very attractive place for doing business with natural made products. Several companies are doing business in Lao PDR successfully. However, some foreign companies are facing problems in terms of difficulties in operation, which provide negatively influence to future development of the country. This study attempts to identify the success factors for doing business in the Lao PDR, especially in working with the Lao handicraft suppliers. It will analyse also the criteria for management of supply chain for natural and handicraft products for export market. In order to have a clear understanding on supply chain management, an exploratory case study on La Sensitive, a handicraft company in Paris was conducted, which consisted of in-depth interview with the concerned persons. Based on output of analysis, efforts are been taken to give some recommendations to avoid any problems, which could cause failure in operation and thus would help foreign company, La Sensitive in Paris, to do business successfully in Lao PDR and promote the investment environment for the country |
