Abstract | The business scenario at present is in high demand of mobility. Businesses world wide are run locally, which is why E-Commerce applications also need to be developed locally. With Mobile users outnumbering the number of PC holders, and with the latest innovations in Wireless Technology a concept by the name of Mobile Commerce has taken its origin. Mobile Commerce is also named as Wireless Commerce since it is conducted using wireless networks. Mobile Operators are playing a very important role in developing applications for Mobile Commerce. Sonera of Finland is one of the few leading companies who took up W AP as a tool of Mobile Commerce. It has so far delivered wireless value added content and services to its customers worldwide. With the changing trends in the Mobile Industry and with falling average revenues per subscriber, Mobile Operators need to adopt up coming latest technologies in order to stay competitive. In the league to deliver value added content and services Mobile Operators are repositioning themselves in the International Wireless market in order to exploit the potential of W AP and the other upcoming bearer technologies. W AP adds value to business. It has many advantages attached to it, which can be greatly exploited by Mobile operators in the future |
