AbstractIt is not always the same when a firm's employees and management perceive effectiveness of its policies and practices. The management wants its policies and processes to best fit to needs of the employees in order to motivate them in every dimension of productivity, creativeness, and innovativeness, and therefore to improve the company profitability and competitiveness. Unfortunately, they are often distorted due to many factors. This research explores the effectiveness of strategic human resource management practices in an electronics American-based company in Thailand through perceptions of the company's management and employees. In-depth interviews and surveys were made with both the groups to measure their perceptions and identify existing BRM-related problems. In the questionnaires used for the survey, the management was asked to act in role of the employees while answering questions. The research points out that one of the most difficult things in HRM is to match the firm's policies and practices with the changing and increasing needs of the employees. Another critical obstacle is to guarantee consistency among various policies and practices.
