Abstract | Major problems of the existing cellular network (GSM900) are the inadequate coverage and improper interference prediction. This research presents the performance of the existing cellular network, covering the AIT area by predicting with the Network Planning Tool (NPS/X) and measuring with the Network Measurement System (NMS/X). The downlink quality, downlink power level, output power of mobile and the effect of morpho correction factor on the network planning are studied. The predictions are based on the Okumura-Hata model and the base station informations are taken from the operator, AIS. The measurement is made along the AIT's route by limiting car speed. The measurement is also made inside the buildings in AIT area by choosing the highly populated buildings. Graphs, which depict the performance of the existing cellular network and the difference of signal strength between the prediction and the measurement, both before and after adding the correction factor, are presented. The results show the rank of the cellular network's performance in AIT's buildings. And the terrain correction factor values adding to each base station are shown. In order to obtain more accurate prediction value, the morpho correction factor should be added in the prediction |
