Abstract | Like the rest of the world, energy business has been changing tremendously during the last decade. Together with the development of technology, deregulation and privatization have played a crucial role in driving Energy Business to a new stage, where the market is liberal and determinant by market demand and supply themselves. This trend has an important impact in the business strategy of related companies. Many of them have expanded the scope of their business globally. Electricity companies have become natural gas companies and vice versa. Tractebel was a Belgian based utility companies, managed to anticipate the changes in its environment by bravely striking out into new markets in its own sectors of activities all around the world. Ten years after its first international expansion, Tractebel now is becoming one of the world leaders in energy and an international multi services provider. This research highlights the recent trends in the global energy market and analyses the reform of electricity supply industry in Thailand. It then will focus on Tractebel business activities in Thailand and analyze the strategies that make the group a brilliant success. |
