Abstract | Myanmar Automobile and Diesel Engines Industries (MADI) is developing along with increasing technology transfer in this field. At present Myanmar government is encouraging technology transfer under mechanism of joint venture in order to improve the infrastructure and assimilate technologies. This study aims how MADI used the technology transfer mechanisms of technical collaboration and joint venture to upgrade its automobile technology. The elements of the international transfer of technology on the growth and development of MADI are examined and the barriers to transfer the technology to MADI are identified. MADI's efforts to overcome the problems and the benefits for MADI from technology transfer process are presented. Finally some guidelines for improving technology transfer effectiveness in automobile firms in Myanmar based on the findings of this study are proposed. |
