AbstractToday's business arena competition in the market is increasing. The companies are competing both locally and globally. At the same time the presence of information technology has changed the modem business structure. Now for all manufacturing company managing their supply chain becoming more and more important. In automobile industry most of the big companies are going for outsourcing. And this makes the supply chain management more and more important. Most of the companies are investing huge amount to develop more competitive supply chain management system. But, in many cases Information Technology is not giving the expected results. There is no exact method ~o judge the performance of supply chain management. In this research work certain parameters are identified to judge the performances of supply chain management. At the same time some key success factors have been identified for successful information technology. From this research it was found that there is a very clos.e relationship between this success factors and supply chain performances. Simultaneously qualitative research helps to understand the supply chain management in automobile industry and to use of information technology in it. This research might help for the companies, which are in the stage of strategic planning for the implementation of information technology across their supply chain.
