AbstractRecently the number of worldwide tourists has been increased rapidly. The tourism is one of the priority industries for many countries, especially for less developing countries, because it is main sources of foreign exchanges. Like other industries, tourism has been benefited from IT development. The Internet allows poor countries to promote the national tourism in very cost effective way. It gives opportunities to local small businesses as well as a big international organization. However, event the IT is there but there are many constraints for less developing countries to be able to obtain the full profits. The research studies the awareness and situation of lodging and air line companies operating in Laos in order to find out the constrains to promote E-commerce. The result of this research is useful for any local companies who willing to face the new challenges for the great benefits. The research is also benefited for the concerned parties: Lao government and NGOs who are trying to promote the tourism and IT development in Laos.
