Abstract | There have been a lot of studies on the non-uniformity of softwood pulp as its effects on bleachability and pulp properties, there has not yet been studies on hardwood respective. The purpose of this study was to understand this problem by comparing pulp uniform and non-uniform in terms of bleachability and pulp prope1ties. A mixture of different kappa number pulps was non-uniform pulp that was compared to a uniform pulp. There were differences between them examined as unbleached pulps and paper. Cooking yield and viscosity of uniform pulp were higher than cooking yield and viscosity of non-uniform pulp. Furthermore, refining resistance, tensile index of uniform pulp were higher than of non-uniform pulp. Tear indices of refined pulps were on same level. The pulps were also bleached using an ECF bleaching sequence with the oxygen delignification. There were differences on the final results of bleached pulp and paper properties also. Bleached yield, brightness, viscosity of uniform pulp were higher than bleached yield, brightness, viscosity of non-uniform pulp. Refineability, strength, and especially opacity of uniform pulp were higher than of non-uniform pulp respective. |
