AbstractIn current proposed database architectures they have two types of database architecture, centralized database architecture (CDB) and distributed database architecture (DDB). When we compare between CDB and DDB, the DDB reduces the distance traveled by signaling message. However, this scheme increases the number of database updates and queries and thus increases the delay in location registration and call delivery. So in this thesis presents on-going research efforts that attempt to reach some middle ground between centralized database architecture and distributed database architecture, hybrid database architecture (HDB). We present analytic model which allows us to evaluate different alternative of query loads and average search time and also study querying cost. Moreover, we discuss simulation to compare results with analytic model. In designing the HDB or any database structure, the performance is obtained by reach of the best trade off between average search time and query cost of database structure. For average search time of HDB the best structure is 3 levels structure with small number of home nodes while the number of home nodes depends on mobility of user. For query cost of HDB it depends on the number of HNs and levels. In the case of comparison among CDB, DDB, and HDB, HDB has the best performance in low mobility and CDB has the best performance in high mobility.
