AbstractThese days, the construction industry is a driving force for the growth of Myanmar to develop modernized infrastructures and fulfill the infrastructure needs, since Myanmar is still the developing countries and can only construct the conventional building in construction sectors. Local firms depend on the foreign technology and professionals for their further development. Some local firms are trying to use new technology and transfer the technology from foreign firm for their projects. The case study has examined the existing practice of technology transfer in building construction projects in Myanmar. To transfer the technology, the two firms should have a substantial relationship from the start to till the end of the project. The local firms’ employees should be provided trainings, workshops by the foreign firms who have great amount of experience. Firstly, this thesis aims to identify the existing practice of technology transfer factors in building construction projects. Secondly, it aims to investigate and identify the consequences of existing practices under technology transfer factors at project level of building construction. Last but not least, the recommendations for technology transfer improvement in building construction projects in Myanmar have been proposed. Three case studies are investigated regarding existing practices. The practices of each case are compared to one another by using case wise and cross case analysis in order to examine the strength and weakness of technology transfer factors in the projects. Suggestions have been discussed and given for improvement of weaknesses in the construction projects in Myanmar.
