| Abstract | Construction industry is one of the most risky and dynamic businesses. In general, construction projects are enforced by law with the help of construction contracts, where parties involved in the project mutually agree. Procurement management is one such form of management, where goods and services are acquired from a different organization or firm. Major problems while procuring materials in Indian construction industry are due to improper, and in some cases complete absence of the procurement plans, awarding tenders to the lowest bidders, unregulated contracting system and disputes. This research focuses on procurement management of two cases which will affect the project performance in contractor’s perspective. The study is qualitative in nature. Through previous research papers, reports and journals, a procurement management maturity assessment tool has been developed to measure the maturity of the procurement management process of the cases. The developed tool is applied and analyzed to the actual project to evaluate the maturity level. Criteria validation is done through evaluating two real projects which are ongoing by two different contractors and comparing the results with actual project performance. This tool will be able to evaluate a procurement management maturity level of building projects. |
