AbstractSpace-time code (STC) is a combined channel coding scheme with antenna diversity technique to achieve both coding and diversity advantage but the drawback of STC is low coding gain. Parallel Concatenated Gallger Code (PCGC) is an efficient channel coding scheme that connect two Low Density Parity Check (LDPC) codes with turbo coding structure without interleaver. Concatenating of two coding scheme is a wellknown coding scheme used to improve the coding gain. It is motivated to study the performance of STC concatenate with PCGC code in order to increase the over all coding gam. In the research study, performance of serial concatenated space-time code (SCSTC) system has been investigated over Rayleigh fading channel. The channel state information is assumed perfectly known at the receiver. The BER performance of SCSTC with PCGC scheme is considered under several conditions including: different information frame length, vary number of super iteration and local iteration. In addition, in this study the BER performance is also compared to SCSTC with Turbo code, by the code rate and information frame length are fixed. The simulation results show that the BER performance of SCSTC with PCGC code is better than SCSTC with Turbo code. SCSTC with PCGC can achieve BER 10-5 by Eb/No less than 12 dB while SCSTC with Turbo code uses more than 12 dB. In addition, decoding SCSTC with Turbo code much complex than decoding SCSTC with PCGC code. On the other hand, SCSTC with PCGC code spends time for decoding more than SCSTC with Turbo code.
