Abstract | Mobile communication is a part of daily life. International roaming (IR) is a feature f~)f subscriber to use the mobile at any place which is not limited only in a country. However tariff of IR is very high compared to local mobile tariff and call ID is not shown on mobile. Then subscriber can not make decision to reject undesired call. In the present day call barring for all incoming calls is available if wanted by the subscriber as a value added service. Other call barring types which allow subscriber to specify allowed or blocked number would be more beneficial. In this study, four call barring methods are described and tested for finding out operator cost. The four call barring methods are blocking and allowing calling ID at HLR and at mobile terminal. Finding assumed operator cost in each method is done by finding traffic quantity and assuming cost in each link. It is found that the operator cost in allowed calling ID at HLR is the lowest and in allowed/blocked calling ID at mobile terminal is highest. ยท If decision is made by the lowest operator cost, allowing calling ID at HLR should be the best call barring method from this testing. However this testing is done only for operator cost which is not enough for making decision to set up this call baiTing method because this testing is not done to show subscriber's cost-service trade-off. |
