AbstractFour models were developed to simulate the drying of paddy with the f0rced flow of ambient air. Two models were empirical in nature while the other two employed the near equilibrium simulation approach. Experimental drying tests were carried out in the months of April and June 1981 to generate data for model validation. The simulated drying results from the four models agreed reasonably well with the experimentally obtained values. Milling quality of the ambient air dried paddy was also investigated. The milling test results showed no marked changes between the paddy before and after drying.
