AbstractMobile commerce is predicted to grow steeply in the near future. The players of the mobile commerce value chain are competing in their position in the chain and try move toward closer relationship with the customer to ensure the revenue in the future market. Mobile payment is one domain of mobile commerce, which affect to the growth of the whole industry. It enables payments through the mobile phone made by customers. Banks and mobile operators plan to offer the payment service to become the payment operator. Several proposals have been made for payment solution. Banks and operators have proposed three different models. They may offer payment service on their own or offer payment service together. This study compares three proposed models from the customer perspective. It conducts the consumer evaluation and model evaluation and gives recommendations for the payment solutions. Analysed payment models were: operator centric model, financial institute centric model, and co-operative model. The analysis was done by using five factors: security, market coverage, usability, usage cost, and implementation cost. The customers' expectations were determined based on questionnaire survey done in Singapore. It was found that the financial institute model meets better customers' requirements than other two models. The mobile payment is still under development. The study recommends security, usability, and usage cost to be the main considerations in new payment solution development.
