AbstractThis report is provided to examine a procedure and method for performing energy life cycle cost analyses used in selection of alternative building systems. The systems to be considered are lighting, air conditioning and building envelope system. The Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCCA) consists of many steps; define the project description, creating the feasible alternatives, estimating the initial and operating cost, calculating the annualized life cycle cost of each alternative and comparing the results. TluĀ·ee types of reference building generated in analysis are office building, hotel and Superstore. Each area has different function areas. The type of reference commercial building specified the feasible alternatives. On this study, the costs to be considered are initial cost and energy cost. The uniform present value factor and non-uni form present value factor are used to discount the initial cost and energy cost of each alternative. Many tools is used for the calculating the cost related to the life cycle cost analysis. For example, the lumen method is a tool, which can determine the lighting power density. The simulation program, SYSTEM ANALYZER, is used to calculate the annualized energy cost of air conditioning system. Then, the total aru1ualized life cycle cost of each alternative is compared in each system in reference building. The lowest annualized life cycle cost is considered for selecting the alternative building systems.
