Abstract | In the dynamic world of the globalization, technology is advancing in an incredible pace. All economies, especially those of developing countries, have to make a great deal of effmt for not being left behind. Lao PDR, one of the world least developed counh·ies, is not an exception. The counhy is struggling not only to catch up with the rest of the world, but is also working hard to improve its trade deficit situation to a sustainable level. Indushy, especially the manufacturing industry, is a key instrument of such an effort to make improvement on the deficit situation; stimulating an increase in exports and reducing impo11s by intensifying impo1t substitution is one of the most effective approaches. This research study attempts to gain an insight into the technology and human resource management practices of the manufacturing industly in Lao PDR. Subsequently, on the basis of the finding of the interviews and surveys, the study attempts to shed light on the current human resource development and its related problems in the technology management of the manufacturing firms. It also provides some suggestions, which may help improve the effectiveness and efficiency level of these organizations from human resource development viewpoints. |
